A busy few months performing in New Brunswick
Living in the Maritimes means New Brunswick has always been an important part of my performing territory, but the last few months have been especially busy. I've been travelling across the province for fairs, exhibitions, graduation events, private functions and community events — sometimes with magic, sometimes with juggling, sometimes with hypnosis, and occasionally with running chainsaws.
Recent stops have included the Napan Agricultural Show near Miramichi, private events in Rothesay and Quispamsis, the Riverview Arts Centre, the Rexton Lions Club, the Albert County Exhibition, the Charlotte County Fall Fair in Saint Stephen, the Westmorland County Agricultural Fair, events in Moncton, and shows in Petitcodiac.
Napan: magic, fire and a great New Brunswick fair
One of the most memorable stops was the Napan Agricultural Show, just outside Miramichi. I stayed in Miramichi for the event and the fairgrounds were only about a ten-minute drive away. Agricultural fairs are some of my favourite places to perform because the audience is a true cross-section of the community — kids, parents, grandparents and everyone in between.
The show included the mix of magic and variety entertainment that has taken me around the world. The photo at the top of this page was taken at Napan while I was juggling flaming torches. It is exactly the kind of setting where a little fire, juggling and impossible magic feels right at home.

Not every New Brunswick performance this year has been a public fair. I also performed private events in Rothesay and Quispamsis, along with a private event at the Riverview Arts Centre. Private events are a very different environment from a midway or exhibition, but that variety is one of the things I enjoy most about performing professionally.
A show can move from a large public fair one week to a theatre or private function the next. The room changes, the audience changes and the pacing changes, but the goal stays the same: make the people in front of me part of the fun and give them something they'll remember afterward.
Planning a company event, private function, theatre show, festival or community celebration in New Brunswick? Ian's show combines magic, comedy, audience participation and world-record skill in a format that can be adapted to very different audiences and venues.
Ask About Your New Brunswick DateAlbert County: two very different shows in one day
The Albert County Exhibition gave me the opportunity to present two completely different kinds of entertainment on the same day. In the afternoon I performed my magic and juggling show. Later that evening, I returned with my hypnosis show.
I have spent my entire adult life as a professional entertainer, so I enjoy being able to bring different shows to the same event. An afternoon family audience and an evening hypnosis crowd have completely different energy, which makes a two-show day like that particularly fun.
Chainsaws at the Westmorland County Agricultural Fair
The Westmorland County Agricultural Fair got the magic and juggling show — and yes, the chainsaws came along too. I've held Guinness World Records for both magic and chainsaw juggling, so fairs and exhibitions are one of the places where those two sides of my career can fit together especially well.
My current stage show is magician-first, with comedy and audience participation at its centre, but I still enjoy bringing out some of the unusual skills I've accumulated over the years when the event and setting are right. Three running chainsaws tend to get people's attention.
Charlotte County Fall Fair in Saint Stephen
Another 2026 stop was the Charlotte County Fall Fair at Ganong Nature Park in Saint Stephen. It was the fair's 15th year, and it turned out to be a particularly successful one. CHCO reported that more than 1,600 people attended on Saturday alone, with more than 60 artisans and food vendors and entertainment and activities from dozens of performers, clubs and organizations.
I was happy to be one of the professional magicians included in the entertainment lineup. You can read more about the event in CHCO's coverage of the 2026 Charlotte County Fall Fair.
A theatre, graduation, private event and agricultural fair can all happen within a relatively short drive of one another — and every audience has a completely different personality.
Graduation shows in Moncton and Petitcodiac
Graduation season also put me on the road in New Brunswick. I performed several grad events in Moncton, as well as a graduation show in Petitcodiac. Graduation entertainment has been a major part of my work in the Maritimes for years, and those shows are always high-energy.
Petitcodiac also brought me back for an exhibition performance, adding another fair-style event to the summer schedule. Between the grad shows, exhibitions and community events, I have seen quite a bit of southeastern New Brunswick from behind the wheel this year.
Rexton Lions Club and community events
I also had the chance to perform for the Rexton Lions Club. Community organizations have been part of my performing career since the beginning, and Lions Clubs, service organizations, fundraisers and community celebrations remain some of the most enjoyable audiences to work with.
Looking for a magician in New Brunswick?
If you found this page because you were searching for a New Brunswick magician, that's the practical part of this story: yes, I perform throughout New Brunswick regularly. Although I'm based in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick is close to home and has been part of my touring schedule for many years.
I perform for corporate events, fairs and exhibitions, theatres, graduation celebrations, festivals, private events and community organizations. Depending on the event, the show can include interactive magic, mind reading, comedy, juggling and selected world-record routines. The emphasis is always on involving the audience and making the volunteers part of the fun rather than making anyone uncomfortable.
Recent New Brunswick performances have taken me to the Miramichi area, Rothesay, Quispamsis, Riverview, Rexton, Albert County, Saint Stephen, Moncton and Petitcodiac — and I'm always happy to add another New Brunswick town to the list.
