Performing for 1,500 Guests at the Royal Ontario Museum

World Record Magician Ian Stewart brought magic, comedy and audience participation to approximately 1,500 guests at a private banquet inside Toronto’s spectacular Royal Ontario Museum.

There are memorable places to perform, and then there are places where a dinosaur is watching the show. This private Toronto banquet combined a beautiful venue, exclusive museum access, interactive exhibits and a high-energy live performance for a truly unforgettable evening.

A spectacular private event in Toronto

Recently, I had the pleasure of presenting my World Record Magic Show for approximately 1,500 guests attending a private banquet at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto.

It was a fantastic group to perform for. The room had great energy, the audience was ready to have fun, and it was a thrill to share world-record magic, comedy and audience participation with such a large crowd. There is something special about hearing laughter and applause travel through a room filled with 1,500 people.

The guests also received access to museum exhibits and special touch areas, which made the entire evening feel like much more than a standard banquet. Before and after the show, there were incredible things to see in every direction. It was one of those rare events where the venue itself became part of the entertainment.

Performing magic beneath a dinosaur

I have performed in theatres, ballrooms, arenas, museums, convention centres and some very unusual spaces, but it is hard to beat doing a magic show beneath an enormous dinosaur skeleton. It gave the room a sense of scale and spectacle before the performance even began.

An old statue also stood beside the stage, which was a remarkable reminder of just how much history surrounded us. Performing next to objects that have existed for centuries added an extra layer of wonder to an evening already built around impossible moments.

One of the best parts of live entertainment:
Every event is different. A show at the Royal Ontario Museum could never feel exactly like a show anywhere else. The setting, the audience and the atmosphere all became part of the experience.

More than 20 years of performing in Ontario

Ontario has been an important part of my performing career for more than two decades. My first Ontario performance was over 20 years ago, and I have always enjoyed returning. The province has welcomed me for corporate events, conferences, theatres, fairs, festivals, private functions and special celebrations.

Over the years, I have performed in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Niagara, Kingston, Timmins and dozens of other Ontario towns and cities. Every community has its own personality, but Ontario audiences consistently bring wonderful energy. It is always great to be back.

Ian Stewart has entertained audiences across Ontario for more than 20 years, including appearances in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Niagara, Kingston, Timmins and dozens of communities throughout the province.

A few unforgettable museum moments

After the show, the museum experience became even more memorable. I was given the opportunity to hold a genuine Tyrannosaurus rex tooth. It is one thing to see a dinosaur fossil through glass; it is something else entirely to hold a real tooth from one of the most famous predators in history.

Not every historic artifact is glamorous: Ian also got to hold actual fossilized dinosaur dung.

I also got to hold fossilized dinosaur dung, properly known as coprolite. That may not sound quite as majestic as a Tyrannosaurus tooth, but it was absolutely fascinating—and very funny. It is not every day that a corporate magic show ends with prehistoric poop.

Why live entertainment works for large corporate events

A large banquet can bring together people from different departments, cities or even countries. The right entertainment gives everyone a shared experience. It creates moments of laughter, surprise and conversation that connect the room.

My show is designed to work for large audiences without losing the feeling of personal involvement. Volunteers are treated like stars, the comedy stays clean and event-friendly, and the world-record elements give guests a built-in reason to pay attention before the first impossible moment happens.

At the Royal Ontario Museum, it was especially rewarding to see 1,500 guests come together for an evening that combined discovery, history, great food and live magic. I had a tremendous amount of fun performing for them, and I am grateful to everyone who helped make the event possible.
